Abstract of the Webinar:
We know electricity is a major part of our life. To ensure the uninterrupted supply of electricity for industries, transformer is one of the essentials. It is rightly said that transformer is a backbone of a power system. The growing demand for energy drives industrializing countries like Bangladesh to invest more in the power sector to use natural and renewable resources more wisely and efficiently. Thus, it creates a huge job opportunity in generation, transmission and distribution systems. To support the increasing utility demand, several transformer manufacturing industries have grown up. As an electrical engineer one can start his career with these transformer manufacturing sectors in Bangladesh. To perform well in this sector one student should have some basic knowledge about three phase transformers and their design principle. This session will give the students a glimpse of some basics of three phase transformers. Also, some design considerations will be discussed to give them ideas about design constraints and principles. This session will cover some basic level understanding which will help them in different interviews and internship periods. During the session, several topics will be covered such as 3 phase transformer construction, Connections, Parallel Operation, Tap changer, Instrument Transformer, Design basics-Core design, Winding types, Cooling systems and Tank design.
