On February 14, 2021, the IEEE CS Bangladesh Chapter handed over the award to the IEEE CS BRACU SBC in recognition of the incredible potential showcased by the chapter since its establishment. The event has been unreservedly a resounding success in many aspects for the IEEE Student, Graduate Student, Associate member, Senior member, and Fellow members within Brac University. The CS chapter of IEEE at Brac University was initiated with the acceptance of the proposal by IEEE USA on April 9, 2019.
Within a very short span of time, the chapter has grown in all respects with all the flamboyant minds who had worked together and put their valuable skill, talent and capacity to achieve its goal. The CS Chapter of IEEE at Brac University is one of the most zestful and lively chapters among the rests. This chapter is destined to create a positive impact among the young learners and expert practitioners by bringing them under a platform that facilitates the usage of trending computer technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Big Data Analytics, Robotics, Bioinformatics, Cyber Security and so on.
The CS chapter organized several noteworthy competitions and virtual workshops, boot camps and webinars even though there were some challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They made sure that the members do not lag behind from learning new things due to the difficult time. During the 2020-2021 session, the chapter had organized COVID-19 Combatant Unification Competition – CCUC, Make an Educative Tutorial Competition – METC, Bootcamp on Native Application Development Using Flutter, IEEEXtreme 14.0 Fastlane webinar, IEEEXtreme 14.0 Fastlane workshop, Bootcamp on Web Development Using ReactJS. The chapter also collaborated with IEEE CS BDC to organize ‘Fight against COVID-19 Pandemic Using Machine Learning’ international lecture series. The chapter members actively participated in the IEEEXtreme 14.0 Programming Competition. They have also celebrated IEEE Day 2020 and secured the second runner up position in the inspiring video contest organized by IEEE CS BDC and IEEE CS BDC Team Spark.
Last year, the ExCom panel of the IEEE CS BRACU SBC was Sifat Tanvir (Chair), Jawaril Munshad Abedin (Vice Chair), Afia Fahmida Rahman (Secretary), and Shahriar Hossain (Treasurer). They had a tremendous contribution towards achieving this award. It was the result of a combined effort by ExCom, chapter members as well as guidance from IEEE BRACU SBC under the direct mentorship of the Branch Counselor, Prof. A.K.M Abdul Malek Azad, PhD. The current advisor of IEEE CS BRACU SBC is Mr. Annajiat Alim Rasel. He mentored the ExCom panels and helped them achieve this award.
