On the 24th of February 2024, the IEEE Brac University Power and Energy Society Student Branch Chapter organized an enriching industrial tour to Poly Cables Industry Ltd. situated in Meghnaghat. This initiative stems from its unwavering commitment to bridging the gap between industry and academia, providing students with invaluable exposure to real-world working environments.
The industrial visit’s primary objective is to expose students to real-world working environments. The visit aimed to provide insights into various types of cables utilized in high voltage distribution and transmission, while we were accompanied by two BRAC University faculty members, Mr. Sk Tahmed Salim Rafid and Mr. Md Abrar Hossen Faiyaz.
Established in 1996 as a Limited Company registered with The Register of Joint Stock Companies of Bangladesh, Poly Cables Industries has dedicated itself to manufacturing and supplying various types of cables to meet the diverse needs of its customers. Moreover, the students were accompanied by the Senior Manager of Poly Cables, Eng. Anamul Kabir, who took the objective of familiarizing participants with the intricacies of cable manufacturing and its applications, particularly in high-voltage distribution and transmission. Throughout the tour, under his expert guidance, the students gained valuable insights into the diverse range of wires manufactured at Poly Cables Industries, learning about the composition of insulating materials and discovering the industrial applications of high kV wires. In this way, the attendees were provided with a comprehensive understanding of the different types of cables utilized in these processes.
Our educational excursion was complemented by the warm hospitality of Poly Cables Industries, which graciously provided us with a rejuvenating recess at the owner’s bungalow. The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the private zoo owned by Poly Cables Industries Ltd., where students had the opportunity to bond amidst the wonders of nature. The tour concluded with an engaging discussion with Senior Manager Eng. Kabir, during which valuable insights were exchanged, enriching our understanding of the industry.
To express our gratitude, the IEEE Power and Energy Society BracU Student Branch Chapter presented a crest to Eng. Anamul Kabir, acknowledging his invaluable guidance and support.
The industry tour concluded with a group photo and our gratitude was addressed to the Senior Manager and all other associated people in the industry who accompanied us and provided us with their valuable time. This industrial tour was not merely an excursion; it served as a gateway to practical knowledge and invaluable industry connections. We eagerly anticipate many more enriching experiences in the future.
