The IEEE CS BRACU SBC successfully hosted an engaging and intellectually enriching webinar on “Artificial Intelligence for Business Analytics and Engineers – Current and Future Perspectives” on May 2, 2025. With over 120+ attendees, including students, young professionals, and academic enthusiasts, the event was an outstanding success.

The session began promptly at 4:00 PM (BD Time) and was led by Dr. Ripon K. Chakrabortty, a globally recognized expert in Artificial Intelligence for Decision-Making in Complex Systems. Dr. Chakrabortty is a Senior Lecturer and Group Leader of the Decision Support & Analytics Research Group at the School of Systems & Computing, UNSW Canberra, Australia.

During this session, Dr. Chakrabortty explored how AI is redefining decision-making in business analytics, particularly within supply chain management, transportation, carbon finance, energy systems, and defence logistics. He presented real-world case studies from leading Australian industries such as Woolworths, BHP, Coca-Cola Amatil, and Toll Group, demonstrating the use of AI in optimizing operations, forecasting demand, reducing carbon emissions, and increasing energy efficiency.

The presentation also delved into topics such as sovereign capabilities, the 4Vs of Big Data, smart logistics, XAI (Explainable AI) in risk management, and blockchain-enabled secure supply chains. His in-depth exploration of generative AI dashboards, predictive maintenance in the defence sector, and closed-loop EV battery supply chains captivated the audience.
The webinar concluded with an engaging Q&A session, where Dr. Chakrabortty addressed insightful questions from participants, adding real-world context to the academic concepts.
The event was a truly enlightening experience that offered deep insights into the real-world impact of AI across industries. It not only expanded participants’ understanding of emerging technologies but also inspired them to explore new avenues in business analytics and engineering. We are grateful for the engaging interaction and look forward to hosting more such knowledge-driven sessions.
