The IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES) BRAC University Student Branch Chapter
successfully organized a hands-on technical workshop titled “Power System Design and
Visualization using AutoCAD” on 25 April 2026 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm (BST) as part of the PES
Day 2026 Celebration. The workshop was designed to provide participants with practical
exposure to industry-oriented tools and techniques, enabling them to bridge the gap between
theoretical knowledge and real-world engineering applications.

The session was conducted by the esteemed instructor, Engr. Al Amin Hossain, Head of
Project Management (Industry Solution) & R&D at Reverie Power & Automation Engineering
Ltd.. With extensive experience in industrial power systems and engineering design, he brought
valuable practical insights that greatly enriched the learning experience of the participants.

In today’s rapidly advancing engineering landscape, proficiency in design and visualization tools
has become essential for power engineers. Software such as AutoCAD plays a crucial role in
developing accurate system layouts and facilitating efficient project implementation.
Recognizing this need, the workshop focused on equipping students with fundamental and
applied skills in power system design, preparing them for future academic and professional
challenges.
The workshop was held at BRAC University from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM(BST)and witnessed
enthusiastic participation from students interested in power systems and engineering design.
The session began with an introduction to the importance of design tools in modern electrical
engineering, followed by a structured, hands-on demonstration.
Throughout the session, participants were guided through key aspects of:
- Power system layout design and schematic development
- Visualization techniques using AutoCAD for electrical systems
- Application of industry-relevant engineering practices in design workflows
The instructor provided step-by-step guidance, allowing participants to actively follow along and
develop their own design understanding in real time. Practical examples and case-based
explanations helped in simplifying complex concepts and demonstrated how design tools are
applied in real industrial projects.
A number of respected faculty members joined the session from the EEE Conference Room at
BRAC University, contributing to a collaborative and academically enriching environment.
Among the faculty members were:
- Shameem Ahmad, PhD
The session also included interactive discussions where participants had the opportunity to ask
questions and clarify their concepts. This engagement fostered a deeper understanding of
practical design challenges and encouraged active learning among attendees.

The workshop concluded with closing remarks from a respected faculty member Dr.Shameem
Ahmad, who emphasized the importance of practical skill development alongside theoretical
learning in the field of electrical and power engineering.
The IEEE PES BRAC University Student Branch Chapter extends its sincere gratitude to Engr.
Al Amin Hossain for his valuable time, expertise, and dedication in conducting this impactful
session. His guidance provided participants with meaningful exposure to real-world engineering
practices.
Overall, the workshop was a great success, empowering participants with essential technical
skills and inspiring them to further explore the field of power system design. Through such
initiatives, IEEE PES BRACU SBC continues to foster practical learning and prepare students to
contribute effectively to the evolving power and energy sector.
