On December 30th, 2024, the IEEE Aerospace and Electronic Systems Society (AESS) at BRAC University, in collaboration with the Bangladesh Robotics Foundation, organized a seminar titled “Mobile Robot Navigation.” This event showcased the critical technologies underpinning autonomous navigation systems and offered an in-depth exploration of the latest advances in mobile robotics.

The seminar featured Md. Hafizul Imran, a prominent figure in robotics education and the founder of the Bangladesh Robotics Foundation, as well as a Senior Lecturer at Daffodil International University and a PhD fellow at Universiti Sains Malaysia. Mr. Imran delivered an exemplary presentation that covered essential aspects of mobile robot navigation, such as localization, mapping, path planning, obstacle avoidance, and control. His talk highlighted how these technologies are implemented in real-world scenarios, enriching the participants’ understanding of the subject.
The session included a practical demonstration of path-planning, vividly illustrating the integration of theoretical concepts with real-time applications. This demonstration was particularly engaging, allowing attendees to witness firsthand the complexities and intricacies involved in the autonomous navigation of robots.

Following the technical presentation, the floor was opened for a Q&A session, providing the attendees with an opportunity to engage with Mr. Imran directly, posing questions that delved deeper into the technologies discussed and their applications in various industries including autonomous vehicles, service robotics, and logistics.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks from the organizers, who expressed their gratitude to Md. Hafizul Imran for his informative and inspiring presentation and to all the attendees for their active participation and enthusiasm.
The seminar drew participants from across the university and the broader robotics community, who left with a greater understanding and appreciation of the potential and challenges of mobile robot navigation.
This seminar is a part of IEEE AESS SBC’s ongoing commitment to fostering innovation and knowledge exchange in the fields of aerospace, electronic systems, and communications technologies. The chapter look forward to hosting more events that continue to inspire and educate, further bridging the gap between theoretical research and practical technological advancements.
