The IEEE BracU Student Branch is delighted to announce the completion of Project Sporsho, a charitable initiative within our extensive portfolio of humanitarian activities. This project exemplifies IEEE’s enduring commitment to societal betterment, extending beyond the realm of technological advancement to encompass compassionate social engagement. Project Sporsho was pioneered with the earnest hope and aim to secure and distribute essential necessities, kitchenwares and stationeries to educational institutions serving underprivileged children or orphans. Through this initiative, the project aimed to address the critical needs of these vulnerable demographic groups – this year it was carried out across orphanages within Shantipur and Tejgaon.

In a fundraising campaign spanning from March 19th to April 3rd, Project Sporsho diligently worked on raising awareness concerning the underprivileged children of Dhaka and how they are deprived from the basic necessities we tend to take for granted in our relatively very comfortable and privileged lives. Thanks to the successful execution of the campaign, IEEE Brac University Student Branch Chapter garnered an overwhelming response through Facebook fundraising posts, enabling the project to deliver these critical supplies to a girls’ orphanage in Tejgaon on April 4th and to a boys’ orphanage in Shantipur on April 7th. The project wished to transcend mere material provision, hoping that it also served as a beacon of hope and resilience for these children. By ensuring they were not deprived of the blessings of Ramadan and the jubilance of Eid, Project Sporsho tried to foster feelings of solace and solidarity, embodying the spirit of the humanitarianism that IEEE ardently advocates within its members.
In the wake of Project Sporsho’s resounding success, we extend our deepest appreciation to all the donors whose unwavering support, irrespective of the magnitude or form of their contribution, proved instrumental. Every contribution, big or small, monetary or verbal, was an enabler to the success of this campaign, and thanks to their collective generosity, Project Sporsho was able to provide at least a little bit of happiness, optimism and relief to these children.

As IEEE BracU Student Branch Chapter commemorates the achievements of Project Sporsho this year, we don’t merely celebrate the immediate impact, we reaffirm our unwavering dedication to perpetuating this initiative in the years ahead. Our goal is to ensure that Project Sporsho transcends a singular event, transforming into a sustainable effort that continues to effect meaningful and lasting change in the lives of those in need. This experience serves as a powerful motivator, a dedication to carry forward the spirit of Project Sporsho and strive to ensure continued welfare of our community in future endeavors. With such continued support from the community, we are confident that IEEE BracU SB can launch and sustain many more such humanitarian events and campaigns like Project Sporsho with the sincere intention to continue to improve lives for years to come.
